The Tenkasi District Crime Branch arrested a local resident, Kalidas, for defrauding an NRI friend of valuable real estate in Panpozhi. The victim had purchased 6.18 acres of land and entrusted the accused with a General Power of Attorney to facilitate its sale. Instead of handing over the proceeds, the accused sold the land for over ₹1.11 crore while repeatedly misleading the owner that it remained unsold. When confronted by the returned owner, the accused issued death threats to silence him. Following a formal complaint to the District Superintendent of Police, crime branch officers verified the forged transactions and placed the accused behind bars.
